(personal and studio) issues and printing problems.

If you need your computer setup to print to Archnet, please make an
appointment with us. Please note, we only support PCs running Windows
XP Pro and OS 10.0+ on Macintosh. You can purchase the upgrades to
these operating systems at the UW Computer Bookstore.

1. How do I add money to my archnet account in order to print?
Bring a check to the Dean's Office in Gould Hall (room 224). The check should be made payable to "The University of Washington."

Email archnet@u.washington.edu and tell us what happened. Or come see us during Help Desk hours.
3. How do I upload a file to my UW (dante) email account?
If you are on a Macintosh,
open the application "Fugu" which is available in the Applications
folder on the hard drive or is the fish icon on the dock.
a. In the
"Connect to:" window type dante.u.washington.edu
b. In the "Username"
window type your archnet username.
c. Leave "Port" and "Directory"
blank and hit connect.
d. You will then be prompted to enter your
password. Enter your myUW/dante e-mail password, NOT your archnet
password.
e. To upload a file, simply drag it into the window with your
dante files.
If you are on a PC, open the application
"Secure File Transfer" which may be called "SSH FTP - Dante" and is
located in the "Internet Applications" folder under the start menu.

Hit "Quick Connect" and make sure you are connecting to
dante.u.washington.edu
b. In the "username" window type in your archnet
username.
c. Hit connect.
d. You will be prompted to enter your
password. Enter your myUW/dante e-mail password, NOT your archnet

7. What is the UWICK cd and why do I need it?
The
UWICK (University of Washington Internet Connectivity Kit) contains
software such as Internet Explorer, Secure File Transfer (SFTP or
Fugu), and secure terminal (for using Pine), virus scan software, Adobe
Reader and Stuffit Expander. This software is important if you are
planning on using the internet.
You can purchase it for $1 from the UW Computer Bookstore OR you can just download the software from UW Computing.
8. I forgot my password and my account is locked out. What do I do?
Come
to the Help Desk during our hours (see above) or email
archnet@u.washington.edu. Please provide us with your dante userID and
your full name.
